Knicks’ KAT sends powerful message on fans’ support in bonkers Game 4 comeback

The New York Knicks are one win away from ending a 53-year championship drought. Karl-Anthony Towns believes the fans deserve a significant share of the credit. Following New York’s stunning 107-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals, Towns took time to thank the fans. He recognized the Madison Square Garden crowd for helping fuel what became the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.

The Knicks trailed by as many as 29 points midway through the third quarter. They appeared headed for a devastating loss before the atmosphere inside the Garden completely shifted. Rather than turning on the home team or heading for the exits, the crowd remained engaged throughout the comeback.

“Shout-out to our fans,” Towns said after the game. “They stuck with us. It was an ugly, ugly game. We didn’t bring it in the first half but they stuck with us. They stayed in them seats and they kept cheering for us and they kept finding ways to give us energy.”

That support helped spark a remarkable turnaround led by Jalen Brunson’s 36 points and OG Anunoby’s playoff career-high 33.

Towns’ appreciation for the fan base carries extra significance given his connection to the franchise. Since entering the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 Draft, he has evolved into one of basketball’s premier big men, earning multiple All-Star and All-NBA selections. Following his move to New York in 2024, Towns has played a pivotal role in the Knicks’ championship pursuit. He has helped transform decades of frustration into genuine title hope.
