Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns huge Game 2 1st half has fans hyped
Karl-Anthony Towns has been a very divisive player throughout his career. But on the grand NBA Finals stage, he is proving himself as the exact kind of winning player the New York Knicks have needed. In the first half of Game 2 of their NBA Finals clash against the San Antonio Spurs, Towns played some of the best basketball of his career — outplaying Victor Wembanyama in the process.
Through the first 24 minutes of play, Towns put up 17 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. He held it down for the Knicks with Jalen Brunson struggling to get into a rhythm early in the game yet again.
Towns’ brilliance on the offensive end has never been something to doubt. But even on the defensive end of the floor, Towns has been remarkable. He’s been frustrating Wembanyama all series long to this point, and it’s his excellent two-way play that’s been turning plenty of heads in the biggest stage.
With the Knicks being this close to winning an NBA championship to break their 53-year title drought, Towns has been working his backside off — much to fans’ delight on social media.
“Kat making wemby look like chet btw but none of y’all wanna admit it,” X user @NYK_HQ wrote.
“i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, KAT is the most valuable player on the Knicks, he’s the reason the Knicks are in the finals,” @JustinHahn05 added.
“KAT treating Wemby like Chet rn !! BBQ CHICKEN!!” @Waveykidbrims furthered.
“KAT is exactly who everyone first thought he was going to be and the opposite of what everyone then said he was,” @fillygoof expressed.
“I gotta say I am thoroughly impressed with KAT. I thought Wemby was going to dominate him but KAT has answered the call and actually been better than him. He’s my MVP right now,” @CarmenCalo2 explained.
