Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns flexes Anne Hathaway card purchase before NBA Finals
Anne Hathaway will forever be linked to one of the great seasons in New York Knicks history. That is not a sentence people probably expected to hear, but it seems true nevertheless. Besides being an avid fan and Brooklyn native, the Academy Award-winning actress actually shares a connection with one of the team’s biggest stars. Karl-Anthony Towns briefly shared the silver screen with Hathaway in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” an experience that obviously left a lasting impression on the game-changing center.
Towns revealed on Instagram that he purchased the A-lister’s autographed Philadelphia Eagles card. “A die hard Eagles fan and a die hard Knicks fan!?!?!” the three-time All-NBA Third-Team selection posted, per Topps. “Yeah, I’m a die hard Anne Hathaway fan 4 life.”
The commonalities run even deeper than shared rooting interests, as both Towns and Hathaway spent their formative years in New Jersey. They understand what it means to be a long-suffering Knicks fan, and they are both obviously stoked about the squad’s first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.
Since “The Devil Wears Prada 2” premiered in the United States on May 1, New York has swept both the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers. A coincidence? Perhaps, but Hathaway’s place in Big Apple lore will become even more prominent if the Knickerbockers claim their first championship in 53 years.
Karl-Anthony Towns will try to borrow some inspiration from the Oscar winner and bring his best effort on the NBA’s grand stage this June. Considering fellow big man Mitchell Robinson is sidelined with a broken finger, No. 32 might have just become the most important player in the Finals.
