Knicks’ Josh Hart ‘waiting’ for Becky Hammon apology after Jalen Brunson comments

Josh Hart took shots at Becky Hammon as he’s waiting for a response from the Las Vegas Aces coach after her past comments about Jalen Brunson ended up being wrong.

The Knicks finally returned to the mountaintop for the first time since 1973. They took down the San Antonio Spurs in five games throughout the 2026 NBA Finals, earning their third title in franchise history. Brunson went on to win Finals MVP for his efforts throughout the championship series.

Hammon famously said in December 2023 that Brunson was not a “1A” player and added that the Knicks couldn’t win a championship with the 6-foot-2 guard as their best player.

“If your best player is small, you’re not winning,” Hammon said at the time.

Hart brought those comments back up during his appearance on the Roommates Show via ESPN. He is waiting for her to officially concede on that statement, patiently anticipating the apology.

“I’m not naming names: I’m still waiting for somebody––,” Hart said before the crowd chanted Hammon’s name.

“…to say they was wrong about someone who led our team to a championship…I know they have media availability so we’ll be waiting for that apology,” Hart finished.

What lies ahead for Josh Hart, Knicks

Josh Hart and the Knicks will be on Cloud Nine after winning the franchise their first championship since 1973.

Hart completed the ninth season of his NBA career, his fourth with the Knicks. He averaged 12 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game throughout 66 appearances.

New York finished with a 53-29 record on the season, securing the third seed in the East standings. They went 16-3 in the playoffs, rolling off 13 straight wins to get to their first NBA Finals since 1999. After beating the Spurs, they end a 53-year drought as they earn their third-ever title.

The Knicks enter the offseason with plenty of security. They retain their star core but will address some holes in the second unit, which they will do in the draft and free agency.
