Knicks’ Jalen Brunson nearly breaks own record in stunning start vs. 76ers

It did not take long for Jalen Brunson to remind everyone that he is not fooling around, as the New York Knicks hosted the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden on Monday in Game 1 of their second-round series in the playoffs.

Brunson came out firing on all cylinders, with the 76ers having trouble preventing him from getting to his spots.

By halftime, he already had scattered 27 points, the second-most in a half in the playoffs in team history in the play-by-play era, according to ESPN.

“The most? Jalen Brunson’s 28-point first half of Game 5 of the 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals versus the Indiana Pacers,” noted ESPN.

The shifty guard knew he had to set the tone for the Knicks, who eliminated the Atlanta Hawks, 4-2, in the first round. Brunson has always been the yardstick for New York.

As of writing, the Knicks have a comfortable lead against the 76ers in the fourth quarter.
