Knicks’ Jalen Brunson displays elite leadership with honest admission after Game 3 defeat
With the New York Knicks’ 13-game winning streak in the playoffs ruined by the San Antonio Spurs in the 115-111 loss in Game 3, the team looks to bounce back and take a commanding 3-1 series lead in the NBA Finals. As the Knicks prepare now for Game 4 against the Spurs, star Jalen Brunson provides perspective on the team’s mindset.
While New York had been used to winning games recently in the postseason, Victor Wembanyama and the rest of San Antonio take a pivotal game on the road. Despite the loss, Brunson says the team has grown from it.
“Each game, no matter what the situation is, we’re growing as a team, and I think we’re learning, and we’re getting better, obviously, before last night, but no matter what the situation is, we’re going to sit together, and we’re going to execute, we’re going to be better, and that’s just how our mindset has to be going forward, and you never really know what the situation is going to be, you never know what this, how the script is going to play out, but as long as you have each other’s back and we keep fighting, that’s what we go for,” Brunson said on Tuesday.
"No matter what the situation is, we're going to stick together."

Jalen Brunson on learning through the Knicks’ Game 3 loss vs. Spurs
In the Knicks’ loss to the Spurs, Brunson would record 32 points on 11 of 25 shooting from the field, three of five from the field, to go along with five assists and five rebounds. It’s been an impressive run for the Knicks in the playoffs, with Monday’s loss being the first time they recorded a defeat in close to 50 days, but Brunson isn’t letting that impact the team.
“I think most importantly…win or lose, we’re meant to come be here today to understand what we need to do to be better, and that’s the mindset,” Brunson said on Tuesday, via SNY Knicks. “We understand what we have to do to be better.”
"Win, we learn. Lose, we learn."
