The City of Brotherly Love may have a new “king,” as New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson may have unseated Rocky Balboa for the honor after he helped his team sweep the Philadelphia 76ers.

KnicksMuse posted a picture of Brunson triumphantly standing at the top of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps, famously dubbed the “Rocky Steps.” In the movies, Balboa famously runs up them as part of his training. They even commemorated the iconic scene with a statue of the character.

In the revised version of the scene, however, it’s Brunson who has his arms raised. KnicksMuse dubbed him “The King of Philadelphia.”

Brunson is the unquestioned leader of the Knicks. In their clean sweep of the Sixers, Brunson averaged 29 points, 2.8 rebounds, and six assists per game. His best performance was in Game 1, which the Knicks won by 39 points. He scored 35 points while making 66% of his shots.

During the regular season, Brunson was a top 10 scorer in the NBA, averaging 26 points per game. He also averaged 6.8 assists per game, the 11th most in the league.

He only had to play 28 minutes in Game 4, which New York won by 30 points. Brunson was the second-highest scorer on the Knicks behind Miles McBride, who was filling in for an injured OG Anunoby. McBride scored 25 points while making 70% of his shots, including going 7/9 on three pointers.

The Sixers were coming off a series where they erased a 3-1 deficit against the Boston Celtics. However, the Knicks, who entered Game 4 up 3-0, squandered any chance of a similar comeback early. They outscored the Sixers 43-24 in the first quarter, and they continued dominating for the rest of the game.

It wasn’t until the fourth quarter, during which most of the Knicks’ starters sat out, that the 76ers outscored New York. They won the last quarter 31-22, but still lost the game by 30 points.
