Justin Wrobleski’s scoreless effort vs. Mets has Dodgers fans going wild

On Monday night, Justin Wrobleski started for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a role that he’s becoming more frequently utilized in. He can start a few games, but in 2025, he came off the bullpen in 22 out of his 24 appearances. But it looks as though the 25-year-old southpaw is making a case to be a bigger part of the rotation moving forward, if his performance against the New York Mets is any indication.

Wrobleski, called upon to start against a Mets team with some heavy hitters, passed his test for the Dodgers in flying colors. In fact, his start might just be the best-case scenario from LA’s point of view. In a 4-0 win, the 25-year-old lefty pitched eight innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits despite striking out just two (walking none), as he took the Mets lineup to the woodshed.

The Dodgers are already rich enough in quality players as it is. But it’s their player development team that might be the real MVP of this dynastic run they’re in at present. While their high-profile signings may end up stealing all the headlines, it’s players like Wrobleski, whom they drafted in the 11th round back in 2021, that keep this machine rolling.

Dodgers fans, as a result of this excellent start from Wrobleski, are buying into the hype on social media.

“I knew wrobleski had that dog in him,” @CaliBodhisattva added.

A few Dodgers fans were also disappointed that manager Dave Roberts didn’t allow the 25-year-old to finish the complete game shutout even though he was only at 90 pitches on the night.

“I know Wrobleski was at 90 pitches after 8, but Roberts should’ve given him a shot at a CG shutout since they’re so rare in MLB now,” @15minofPham wrote.

“What an outing for Justin Wrobleski. Was in control from the very first pitch. Unfortunate that he didn’t get a chance to finish the game,” @joshgitt1987 added.
