Jason Cundy to end 15-year Chelsea streak as talkSPORT host misses Manchester United clash

Jason Cundy won’t be watching his beloved Chelsea this weekend… yes, you read that right!

talkSPORT’s resident Blues fan, who had the honour of wearing his club’s colours as a player, is a frequent visitor to Stamford Bridge.

The Sports Bar host can be seen sitting high up in the East Stand on commentary for the club whenever they play at home.

Chelsea return to their hallowed turf on Saturday night in a massive Premier League test against Manchester United, live on talkSPORT.

But Cundy will not be watching from inside the stands at the Bridge, with another matter taking centre stage for him this weekend.

He will be a groomsman for co-host Jamie O’Hara at his wedding, and has explained what it means for his long-term Chelsea trips.

“Here’s the dilemma, 17:30, Spurs take on Brighton, I’m at a wedding,” he told Andy Goldstein.

“Let me tell you now, I’m taking a massive charger, my phone, headphones and hiding to go and watch that game… I’ve got to.”

“When was the last time you missed a Chelsea home game? Goldstein asked, and Cundy replied: “Over 15 years ago, mate.

“I’ve not missed a Chelsea Premier League game, commentary, for well over 15 years, maybe closer to 20. And the only one I’m missing is tomorrow.”

Goldstein then asked him: “Were you ever in two minds to not go to the wedding because of that?”

Cundy then cheekily smiled towards the camera, with O’Hara hoping that he doesn’t arrive with his iconic Ange Postecoglou mask.

Even if he isn’t amongst the Chelsea faithful on Saturday, Cundy will no doubt find a way to keep tabs on the score.

But he doesn’t seem to be too confident of his side’s chances of winning against a United side who are also gunning for the top five.

Chelsea went winless across their previous four home games in the Premier League, and are currently on an overall losing streak of three.

“Our home form is terrible, we’ve fallen off a cliff,” Cundy admitted. “We’re in a bit of a tailspin.

“I don’t know about (Liam) Rosenior, football is about results, that’ll never change.

“I don’t care what you say, how you say it, give me results and no one will care.”

Cundy added: “We’ve got to win. Draw, boos, defeat, boos. I don’t know how good Man United are, I’m unsure about them.

“I think it’ll be 2-2.”

You can follow live coverage of the game on talkSPORT this weekend.

Commentary will be coming from Sam Matterface and England icon Stuart Pearce at Stamford Bridge.
