James Maddison rubbishes Tottenham fears as he responds to viral video amid injury recovery
James Maddison has responded after a viral clip appearing to show his physical condition as he recovers from a serious knee injury.
Maddison suffered the ACL issue in a pre-season friendly meeting with Newcastle during Spurs’ pre-season tour of South Korea last summer.

The England international has missed the entirety of the 2025/26 season and by the time he returns, will be working under a third manager following Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment earlier this month.
De Zerbi succeeded Igor Tudor at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium helm after the Croat replaced Thomas Frank in the capital.
Maddison is working hard to feature in the final weeks of the season in a bid to bolster Spurs’ survival hopes.
The 2025 Europa League winners sit just one point above the relegation zone heading into the final seven games of the campaign.
‘Admin needs to work’
Supporters, though, were concerned about the state of Maddison’s right knee after a video showing the midfielder hard at work did the rounds on social media.
“If this is a recent piece of footage it’s going to be a bit longer….the difference in his legs tell you that,” one Spurs fan wrote on X.
A second added: “Injuries are crazy mahn, look at his legs.”
“Difference in leg size is crazy,” a third posted.
“Injuries hurt players more than we can tell. You could see James Madison has lost a lot weight, especially in his leg muscles. When he is fit, he is a joy to watch. I wish him a speedy return to the pitch,” a fourth penned.
Maddison has since responded to the video, posting a clip of himself standing straight on towards the camera.

The clip shows that the muscle mass in both legs appears to be the same.
The former Leicester man captioned the video: “Admin needs to work on the angles of videoing… @spursofficial.”
Maddison’s recovery was discussed by former boss Tudor, who gave a positive update on the Spurs star last month, saying: “Maddison is already doing interesting things as well with the ball. Sprinting as well. I saw him. He is positive. He is positive.”
New head coach De Zerbi is yet to talk about the possibility of Maddison playing again this season.
However, the 46-year-old is expected to be asked about the 29-year-old in his first press conference later this week.
De Zerbi’s first game as Spurs boss comes at Sunderland on Sunday.

Spurs then welcome De Zerbi’s former side Brighton for his home debut later this month.
The north London side then see out the season with matches against Wolves, Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea and Everton as they look to stave off relegation.
Spurs currently sit 17th in the Premier League, just one point above West Ham, who take on Wolves on Friday night.
