Jalen Williams suffers potentially serious injury in Game 2 vs. Suns

The Oklahoma City Thunder have built their team with depth to withstand injuries, and that may be tested early in the postseason here. OKC is taking on the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 of their first round playoff series, and may be closing the game out without Jalen Williams.

Williams took a layup midway through the third quarter, missed it, and came up hobbling a little bit while immediately grabbing at the back of his left leg where the hamstring is. He tried to get back on defense unsuccessfully. On the ensuing possession, the Thunder star took a foul on Devin Booker and went back to the Oklahoma City locker room to be further evaluated.

ESPN reported on Williams’ injury status towards the end of the quarter:

“Jalen Williams, JDub of the Thunder is back in the locker room,” ESPN’s Jorge Sedano reported from the sidelines. “At 6:26 in the third quarter, he missed a layup. At 5:53, he took a foul, was talking towards the bench, and told them, “left hammy,” is what he said to the bench. Now, that is not the same hamstring he’s injured twice. That was the right earlier this year. But left hammy, in the locker room, and his return is questionable at the moment.”

Williams dealt with multiple right hamstring injuries during the 2025-26 regular season. From January 18th to March 22nd, Williams played just two games as he re-aggravated the same right hamstring injury and ended up missing over a month the second time from February 12th until March 22nd.

Even though the team initially labeled him questionable to return, it would be incredibly surprising to see him play given his history with hamstring injuries. Williams finished Game 2 with 19 points, one rebound, and four assists on 7-of-11 shooting from the field in 23 minutes of action.
