Jalen Hurts drops ‘exciting’ take on new offense under Sean Mannion

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is a fan of the new offense being implemented under Sean Mannion. In a comment obtained by The Athletic’s Zach Berman, Hurts called working with Mannion “exciting”.

“It’s a different leader, different coordinator, different philosophical approach. It’s exciting. It’s exciting to learn a new brand of football and just grow.”

Mannion is joining the Eagles following his most recent tenure with the Green Bay Packers, serving as quarterback coach and offensive assistant. As a former quarterback, he certainly was expected to form a good connection with Hurts.

In comments obtained by Zach Berman on May 21st, Mannion heaped praise on Hurts.

“Jalen’s been awesome. I really think he can do anything we ask of him. He’s accurate. He’s a great athlete. He really attacks the fundamentals. That’s what’s been really fun to watch these last two weeks of phase two. He’s always wanting more things to work on, wanting more things regarding fundamentals, timing, understanding the scheme.

He added, “He’s hungry for more. Those are the guys that are really fun to work with. In terms of skillset though, he has great arm strength, great accuracy, obviously a tremendous athlete and he really attacks the game. He has a great process in the meetings. He always asks really, really thought provoking questions. He’s detailed and attacks his fundamentals. He’s always a guy who stays after practice and is working on things. Those are the guys you love to work with.”

Under Mannion, Jalen Hurts is expected to have another standout season. In the 20-25 season, he threw for 3,224 yards and 25 touchdowns with only six interceptions on 64.8% completion. He was also proficient in running the ball, rushing for eight carries and eight touchdowns.
