The Delhi Capitals lock horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders in match No. 51 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. This match will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, May 8.

The Knights are the team in form, having won three matches in a row. However, there is no room for error for them as they have lost five in nine matches already, thanks to their horrendous start to the season. They will want to continue with the winning momentum.

Meanwhile, the Capitals' story has been almost opposite to that of the three-time champions. Axar Patel and Co. won their first two matches in IPL 2026. However, they have won only two more matches in the next eight. The Capitals need to get their act together sooner rather than later.

Here are the top player battles to watch out for from Match 51:

Rinku Singh vs Kuldeep Yadav

Rinku Singh had a slow start to the season. He lacked the fluency that we associate with his batting. However, he has found form in the last three matches. After back-to-back fifties, Rinku slammed an unbeaten 22 off 11 balls in the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

His Uttar Pradesh teammate, Kuldeep Yadav, will be looking to get the better of the southpaw on Friday. While Kuldeep hasn't been at his best, picking up seven wickets in 10 matches, the left-arm wrist spinner is always a threat. His battle with Rinku in the middle overs will be interesting to watch.

Mitchell Starc vs Finn Allen

Mitchell Starc missed the first eight matches for the Capitals. However, his return to the side came as a breath of fresh air. The left-arm seamer has taken three wickets in two games, and his economy rate is a decent 8.75.

Finn Allen is someone who likes to take the bowling on from the get-go. Don't expect him to see out Starc's spell. If the ball is in his arc, he will go after Starc and look to stamp his authority. In the last game, Allen scored a brisk 29 off 13 balls, which should do a world of good to his confidence.

Sunil Narine vs KL Rahul

Sunil Narine has been consistent as ever. The mystery spinner has taken nine wickets in eight matches. However, what is astounding is his economy rate of 6.81. In modern-day cricket, for someone who has been playing for so long, Narine's ability to keep the batters in check deserves massive respect.

KL Rahul had a rare blip in the last game against the Super Kings. He is third on the list of leading run-getters with 445 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 180.89. If he gets off to a start, he will be tough to dislodge. Narine's battle with Rahul could very well decide the fate of the match.
