‘I can do the job’ – Former Tottenham boss responds to talk about replacing Thomas Frank
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has insisted he can return to the club and replace Thomas Frank.
Frank was sacked on Wednesday morning, with Spurs finding themselves well involved in the Premier League relegation battle.

The club are now on the lookout for a replacement, with Roberto De Zerbi emerging as a leading contender to come in.
talkSPORT understands that ex-Tottenham striker Robbie Keane, Francesco Farioli and Mauricio Pochettino are in the running too.
But a surprise name has made themselves available, with Sherwood admitting that he wants to step up and save Spurs.
Sherwood was Tottenham manager from December 2013 to May 2014 after being appointed following an interim period.
He took over from the sacked Andre Villas-Boas and went on to win 13 of his 26 games in charge, drawing four and losing nine.
And that record is part of the reason why he believes he could be the right man to now replace Frank in the dugout.
“It was an honour for me to manage that football club and it would be an honour for me to manage them again,” he began on Sky Sports.
“I can do the job. I have proved that I can do the job.
“What they can’t do is make a mistake with this appointment.”
Sherwood added: “I’m 50/1, so there’s no chance really…but maybe it’s not sexy enough, I might have too much of a personality for that hierarchy.

“If you look at what I did when I went in there, I did the job. I did the job I was asked to do and won more games than losses. My home record was excellent as well.
“I played on the front foot. Forget how you’re going to play in this situation, they need to win, no matter how you play, you need to win.
“They need to take the shackles off this group of players, get some confidence and make sure they’re prepared for a relegation battle.
“When I look through that squad, I’d probably hand my hat on five of them to have a fight down there, they’re not ready for a fight at the moment when you look from the outside.”
Who does Sherwood think will get the job?
Sherwood has put his own name forward to become Tottenham boss, but he also picked out who he thinks will get the job.
“I think they will turn to [John] Heitinga, who is there already and has experience as a manager,” he continued.

“It’s a great opportunity for someone who is not in a job.
“It’s a club I love and I know a lot about it, having spent many years there in different capacities.
“It needs someone to give the club a lift, whether that is me or whoever they decide to bring in.”
Sherwood then made a prediction for the summer, believing the next permanent Spurs manager will be a familiar face.
“Whoever it is has a tough job on their hands because let’s face it, in the summer it is going to be Pochettino,” he said.
“It will be impossible for Spurs to look beyond Pochettino with the clamour from the Tottenham support to bring him back to the club.”
