Hurricanes topple Golden Knights for 2nd Stanley Cup in franchise history
The Carolina Hurricanes finally got over the hump in the Eastern Conference Finals this year. Now, they’ve obtained hockey’s ultimate prize. The Hurricanes have defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6, and they are now your 2026 Stanley Cup champions.
Carolina received big-time performances from the likes of Taylor Hall and Jackson Blake. Each player scored a goal in the win over the Golden Knights. Blake also added an assist on the night as the Hurricanes won Game 6 by the score of 3-0.
The Hurricanes began the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs in the most perfect possible manner. Carolina won each of their first eight playoff games, sweeping the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers in the process.
Carolina eventually dropped its first game in Game 1 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals. However, the Canes rebounded to take each of the next four games, eliminating the Montreal Canadiens in five games.
The Hurricanes lost Games 1 and 3 of the Stanley Cup Final. However, the Canes made a switch in goal that turned the tide of the Final. Rookie Brandon Bussi came in to relieve Frederik Andersen in Game 3. Bussi started each of the next three games after a loss in double overtime in Game 3.
Carolina received massive contributions all postseason long from the likes of Hall, Blake, Logan Stankoven, and Jordan Staal. The team only suffered three defeats throughout the entire postseason. Now, the entire team can call themselves champions. The party is just beginning in Raleigh, North Carolina, as the Hurricanes are champions for the first time since 2006.
