Hurricanes’ Seth Jarvis drops ‘snakebitten’ truth bomb amid quiet postseason

The Carolina Hurricanes have been absolutely dominant in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, playing eight games and winning all of them en route to a second consecutive trip to the Eastern Conference Final.

But the top line of Seth Jarvis, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov has been quiet, combining for just 11 points in those eight contests. Meanwhile, the electric second line of Taylor Hall, Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake has carried the team offensively, amassing an eye-opening 31 points.

The Canes haven’t needed their top line yet, but they will if the club hopes to return to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006.

“The last couple games of the Ottawa series and then into the Philadelphia series, I thought our line created a lot of chances, and we’re all just a little bit snakebitten right now,” Jarvis admitted on Friday, per NHL.com’s Tom Gulitti. “But I think as long as the chances are coming, that means we’re doing something right. And as long as the defensive part of our game doesn’t lack in any way, I like where we’re at.”

Jarvis and Aho are playing more than any other forward in this postseason, averaging over 21 minutes each. But they haven’t been able to capitalize on their chances even close to as much as the two stars would like.

“I think we’re all big-game players and that’s something that we pride ourselves on,” Jarvis continued. “So as the playoffs get tighter and you get deeper into it, I think that’s when we can come and really make an impact on this run. And that’s kind of our plan.”

Jarvis, Aho and Svechnikov drove the bus in the regular season; they were three of the team’s top four scorers, along with free agent signing Nikolaj Ehlers.

But the name of the game once you get deep in the playoffs is depth, and the Hurricanes need their top guys to step up as they await the winner of the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres in the East Final.

Carolina has already had a full week off since sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers in Round 2 last Saturday, and they’ll have a few more days of rest and relaxation before welcoming either the Habs or Sabres to the Lenovo Center early next week.
