How Jayson Tatum, other stars have helped Timberwolves’ Donte DiVincenzo with Achilles injury recovery
Nearly two months ago, Jayson Tatum shared an uplifting message for the Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo after his devastating Achilles injury.
Tatum, who had recently completed a challenging rehabilitation process for a similar injury sustained during the 2025 playoffs, expressed deep empathy for DiVincenzo.
After making a quicker-than-expected return to the Boston Celtics’ lineup, Tatum stated at the time that he never wanted to see a fellow competitor endure such a difficult recovery and made it a priority to reach out and offer his personal support.
Since then, DiVincenzo’s recovery has been strengthened by a supportive network of NBA stars who have also faced their own injury challenges.
According to Jon Krawczynski on X, DiVincenzo has actively sought advice from Tatum, Tyrese Haliburton, and Damian Lillard about the mental and physical demands of recovering from an Achilles tear.
DiVincenzo emphasized the significance of these varied perspectives, noting, “They’ve all helped me in different ways, and all their journeys are different.”
By connecting with these experienced veterans, DiVincenzo is drawing on a strong sense of brotherhood to navigate a recovery that often feels isolating.
The heartbreaking scene prompted this outreach during Game 4 of the Timberwolves’ first-round series against the Nuggets.
Also, approximately two months ago, DiVincenzo’s former Villanova and Knicks teammate, Jalen Brunson, voiced his support, calling DiVincenzo his “brother” and declaring that he would “be back stronger.”
Although the injury occurred less than two minutes into that playoff game and is likely to sideline him for the majority of the upcoming season, the guidance from stars like Tatum and Lillard has provided a clear roadmap for his eventual return to the court.
