How do the 2025-26 Thunder compare to the 2010s Warriors? Lakers star LeBron James weighs in

LeBron James has his fair share of experience taking on a few dynasties in NBA history, and he sees one budding in this decade’s Oklahoma City Thunder squad following Game 3 of the West Semifinals on Saturday night.

James is going through his NBA-record 23rd year in the league, having been in the playoffs 19 times and counting. He has faced the San Antonio Spurs dynasty in the 2000s and 2010s and experienced the greatest heights of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors during the mid-to-late 2010s.

That knowledge of facing some of the greatest rosters the league has seen has allowed him some insight on how they share similarities with one another despite playing in different eras of the game. When media asked him about comparing the Thunder in the 1990s Chicago Bulls and the 2010s Warriors, James made a clear statement about Oklahoma City’s talented depth and relentless pursuit of winning games.

“They’re pretty damn good from top to bottom. They don’t let their foot off the gas,” James said.

How LeBron James, Lakers played against Thunder

LeBron James knows it will take a lot for the Lakers to get back in the series against the Thunder. Trailing 3-0 after Game 3, they will need to leave it all out on the court throughout Game 4.

Los Angeles managed to lead at halftime for the second consecutive game, something Oklahoma City has had trouble with. Despite this, the Thunder took full control in the second half by outscoring the hosts 74-49 in the last 24 minutes of the game.

Six players scored in double-digits for Los Angeles in the loss. Rui Hachimura led the team in scoring with 21 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal. LeBron James came next with 19 points and eight assists, Luke Kennard had 18 points and two assists, Austin Reaves put up 17 points and nine assists, while Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart provided 10 points each.

The Lakers will hope to avoid a series sweep when they host the Thunder in Game 4. The contest takes place on May 11 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
