How Cardinals’ Jordan Walker found his mojo again vs. Dodgers
The St. Louis Cardinals are out to a surprisingly strong start to the 2026 Major League Baseball season. St. Louis is led by their core of young players, including outfielder Jordan Walker. Walker hit a home run for the team on Saturday, in a victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Walker talked after the game about how he is staying motivated this season.
“There’s still a lot of work to do, but the progress that I’ve made is really special to me. The group of guys I have around me too is just unbelievable,” Walker said, per Fox Sports.

On the season, the young outfielder is batting at a .315 average. He has 10 home runs and 27 RBIs on the campaign.
St. Louis defeated the Dodgers, 3-2, on Saturday. The Cardinals improved to 20-13 on the year, and have won six games in a row.
Cardinals are out to a strong start with young talent
Before the 2026 season, St. Louis shipped off a lot of their veterans. Sonny Gray, Nolan Arenado and Brendan Donovan all left the club. It was meant to be a rebuilding year from the St. Louis team.
Despite that overhaul, the Cardinals are looking stronger than they have been in years. Walker and young slugger JJ Wetherholt are lifting the offense. Strong pitching is also helping the team stay competitive in the NL Central.
“I know these guys….we are a special team, and I am excited to see more of it,” Walker added.
Walker has battled through some slumps already this season. He has homered in two of his last three game appearances. Before that, he went more than 10 games without a home run.
“It’s just how the season goes, you’re going to have ups and downs,” Walker said. “You’re not going to feel great every day. You just kind of have to fight through it and keep going.”
The Cardinals and Dodgers play again on Sunday. Both teams hold a 20-13 record.
