How Angel Reese played in Atlanta Dreams debut

New Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese stepped up in a big way in her WNBA season opener. Arguably the biggest addition of the offseason, Reese quickly showed her worth to the Dream organization with her effort in the gritty comeback victory over a battle-tested Minnesota Lynx squad that was without star forward Napheesa Collier.

Reese finished the game with 11 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and two assists. She made her presence felt early in the game, snagging three offensive rebounds in an early possession in the game in the first quarter. She eventually ended up with nine by herself, two more than the Lynx had as a team.

Reese also found herself a part of the biggest play of the game that ultimately led to the victory. After a jump ball, Olivia Miles went to get possession to ultimately go for the win. Miles fired a pass to Ermese Hof, and Hof attempted a four-foot layup that would’ve ultimately put Minnesota up. But, Reese rotated over and blocked the shot while also finding a way to secure the rebound to win the game for the Dream.

Reese also made history in the game. With her 11 points and 14 rebounds, she has now recorded a double-double 50 times in 65 career games. The total is the most ever to start a WNBA season, which far surpasses the second-quickest time of 75 games.

Reese and the Dream showed immense resolve and poise, weathering the storm of a huge lead and showing their potential as a contender.
