Heartbroken Harry Kane won’t ever return to the Premier League: ‘No chance’

Harry Kane won’t be making a Premier League return despite painfully missing out on a place in the Champions League final.

That’s the opinion of talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor, who can’t see Kane leaving Bayern Munich to come back to England.

Bayern were beaten 6-5 on aggregate after their 1-1 second-leg draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Wednesday’s semi-final.

It meant the German side were sent home in front of their own fans, with PSG progressing to take on Arsenal in the showpiece.

The disappointment was clear to see on the players’ faces, as Kane was seen looking emotional after the full-time whistle.

He has already claimed the Bundesliga title with Bayern this season, but the Champions League continues to evade him.

And Kane’s future could now become the main talking point, as talks over a new contract at the club are set to begin.

That raised the question on talkSPORT Breakfast of whether the 32-year-old would consider playing in the Premier League again.

“Why [would he return to England]?” Agbonlahor questioned.

“Look at what he’s doing at Bayern Munich, there’s no chance he comes back to the Premier League now.

“He might not retire in Germany, he could go to Saudi or the States, maybe.

“But at the moment, he’s enjoying his football, the fans love him, why would you leave?”

Ballon d’Or damage

Not only were Kane’s hopes of a first career Champions League title quashed on Tuesday – his Ballon d’Or chances were damaged too.

He had been one of the leading favourites to win the prestigious award due to his incredible scoring form, with him netting 55 goals in all competitions for Bayern so far this campaign.

However, missing out on a European title to rivals Ousmane Dembele or Declan Rice could be very costly for him.

“I think he will be [thinking about losing out on the Ballon d’Or], he’s that sort of player,” Agbonlahor stated.

“The season that he’s had… I looked at his face after the game and you could tell he was devastated not to get through to the final, but also, that part of it will be in his mind.

“If he’d won the Champions League, the season he’s had, the amount of goals he’s scored, going to the World Cup and doing well, it would have been his,” the ex-Aston Villa striker added.

Still hope for Harry

But Agbonlahor does think that Kane still stands a chance at winning the Ballon d’Or if England win the World Cup this summer.

And that’s something that German football journalist Raphael Honigstein also agrees with.

“The Ballon d’Or will elude him unless he wins with England,” he said. “But I’m not sure he is the type of striker to think about that, there are so many more selfish strikers out there.

“He’s not that type of guy, he wanted to win the trophy for Bayern and for himself and I think that’s why he was disappointed.”

Honigstein also gave some insight into the transfer talk around Kane, saying: “His immediate future is committed to Bayern.

“Next season and the seasons beyond, if Bayern can renew his contract, he’ll be there.”
