Guardians get massive injury update as lineup continues to struggle
Things are not going well for the Cleveland Guardians right now. The Guardians have lost their lead in the American League Central while also dealing with multiple injuries. Jose Ramirez is expected to miss five to seven weeks due to a left hamate fracture. Angel Martinez is also expected to miss at least one month with a foot fracture. Additionally, outfielder Chase DeLauter is currently out with a right rib cage fracture, but the good news is that he could return soon.
According to MLB.com, the team is hoping that DeLauter will be able to return during their upcoming homestand which is set to begin on Friday. On Wednesday, Cleveland will play its final contest of its current three-game series against the White Sox in Chicago. The Guardians’ homestand will begin on Friday against the Seattle Mariners.
Cleveland will benefit from the boost from DeLauter’s return without question. The lineup has scored only one run in two of its past three games. Scoring runs without Ramirez in the lineup will be difficult regardless, but DeLauter will help the offense.
The 24-year-old outfielder has recorded a slash line of .263/.337/.408 across 66 games played so far in 2026. He has seven home runs and 12 doubles as well.
While nothing is official, DeLauter could return in late June or early July barring any setbacks. Updates on Chase DeLauter’s injury recovery will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
The Guardians and White Sox game on Wednesday is scheduled for 2:10 PM EST, as Cleveland is hoping to reclaim first place in the AL Central soon.
