Giants’ John Harbaugh leads group 9/11 Memorial trip in lieu of OTAs
The New York Giants have decided to wrap up their OTAs early and will not be back on the field until their mandatory minicamp begins early next week, according to Giants beat writer Art Stapleton.
Instead, the club will be going about New York City as part of a community bonding initiative, which includes a visit to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
“Change in plans: Giants not back on field until mandatory minicamp begins Monday,” Stapleton wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Instead of practicing today for what would’ve been OTA 10, John Harbaugh and staff decided to take team to NYC for community bonding event, including visit to 9/11 Memorial & Museum, per sources.”
The Giants are set to enter their first season under coach John Harbaugh, who was let go after several years with the Baltimore Ravens. Upon being hired, Harbaugh expressed his thanks to both the Giants and Ravens organizations for the opportunities afforded to him.
“I want to thank John Mara, Steve Tisch, Chris Mara, and Joe Schoen for the opportunity to lead the New York Giants,” said Harbaugh via NFL.com. “To serve as this franchise’s head coach is a tremendous honor. I come from a football family, and I have deep respect for the history and tradition of this organization.
“I’m excited to begin assembling our staff and getting to work building our team. I would like to sincerely thank Steve Bisciotti and the Baltimore Ravens organization for 18 remarkable years, including the opportunity to become a head coach in the National Football League.”
Harbaugh begins his tenure in New York as the 14th-winningest head coach in NFL history.
