Giants get called out with ‘clowning’ admission
With some fans having a concerning approach to the San Francisco Giants amidst a disappointing season, this former player and broadcaster points out a problem that the team has that not many are talking about. While rumors will surround the Giants in how they will improve the team’s roster, Bob Brenly goes into the attitude of the ball club.
Speaking on KNBR, Brenly spoke about San Francisco, as he played catcher for them from 1981 to 1988 and was also a coach for the team from 1992 to 1996. Asked about the current team, Brenly sees “a lot of clowning” with the team and points out a moment in last Wednesday’s 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Willy Adames got caught in a double play running the bases on a fly-ball, seemingly not knowing how many outs there were in the seventh inning.
“I’m an old goat, and I like the way the game used to be in some respects, but I just see a lot of clowning. You know, I saw Adames the other day when he got picked off second base with the thought there were two outs in the inning and ran on a fly ball to center field and was goofing with Mookie Betts the entire at bat. You know, this, you got to be a little more serious about the game,” Brenly said.

Bob Brenly says the Giants need to have a certain balance
Brenly would continue talking about the attitude of the Giants, saying there’s a balance of having fun and messing around with the other team, but also needing to have a seriousness about the game.
“There’s a time to have fun. There’s a time to hang around, talk to the guys on the other team, but once they sing that anthem at the beginning of the game, it’s time to pay attention. It’s time to focus and concentrate. And I see a few guys on your roster that maybe aren’t totally plugged in when the game starts,” Brenly said.
At any rate, San Francisco is at a 20-28 record, which puts them fourth in the NL West.
