Giants demote assistant coach after brutal Diamondbacks series

“The San Francisco Giants demote third-base coach Hector Borg after a series of decisions gone wrong. He’ll now be in player development. Ron Wotus returns as the 3B coach on an interim basis,” Nightengale wrote on X.

Baserunning issues were a major theme this week against the Diamondbacks. Borg was at the heart of these issues, as he waved home Willy Adames on a play in left-center field. The outfielder, Ryan Waldschmidt, was able to make the throw home. There was another instance in the same inning where Luis Arraez also got picked off while being aggressively waved home.

The Giants are 0-6 against the Diamondbacks this season. Moreover, they have tumbled toward the bottom of the standings, with their season on life support.
