Friend of Tyrese Haliburton’s fiancée dies during bachelorette party
Tyrese Haliburton and Jade Jones were faced with tragedy following Jones’ bachelorette trip, as a friend of the soon-to-be bride has died.
Jones hosted the St. Bart’s getaway earlier this month for her bridal party, which included 26-year-old Makenzi Kern, who passed away. TMZ Sports reports that “she passed away from health complications and the family does not suspect that foul play, drugs, or alcohol contributed to her death.” According to the obituary, Kern died on June 8, “around the time the group was slated to return to the United States and two days after her birthday.”
“She was surrounded by her closest friends on a once in a lifetime trip to St. Barthelemy Island,” the obituary continued.
The family added more about Kern’s personality in the obituary, writing, “To know Makenzi was to love her. She lived life to the fullest; she was silly, goofy, and could brighten everyone’s spirits when she was around.”
Additional details surrounding Kern’s death have not been made at this time.
Kern and Jones were teammates on the Iowa State cheerleading squad, the same college in which Jones would go on to meet her future husband.
Jones shared several snapshots from her time in St. Bart’s, which included photos with her late friend.
Haliburton and Jones began dating in 2019 and he proposed to the former cheerleader last year.
At this time Jones nor Haliburton have commented on the passing of Kern.
