Francisco Lindor gives David Stearns props for ‘special’ Mets team despite stinking
The New York Mets are mired in a losing season. New York fired manager Carlos Mendoza on Friday, as the team looks to turn the ship around. Mets star Francisco Lindor is giving his president of baseball operations David Stearns props for putting this club together, despite the losses.
“I feel like (David) Stearns did a good job putting the team together,” Lindor said, per SNY. “We just haven’t been together, you know? We just haven’t played together.
Now that we’re slowly getting healthy, little by little, hopefully this next however many games we can play together and make something special out of it.”

The Mets are last in the National League East this season, with a 35-48 record. New York snapped a seven-game losing streak on Saturday, by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2.
It was the first victory for Mets interim manager Andy Green.
“Wins are fun, but it’s not about me. It’s about the team, and winning as a group is fun,” Green said, per MLB.com. “Playing whatever part you play in that, it’s fun. I think the guys did a lot of good things today. It was a cool team win where you can talk about a bunch of different guys. Those are fun games.”
Lindor had a great night on Saturday. He tripled for New York, and drove in two runs.
“It was fantastic. It was great to see quality at-bats from the start of the lineup all the way until the end. It was really good,” Lindor said. “Man, the older I get, the more triples I get. I don’t like it. I want more doubles. [Just kidding], the triple felt good. The trainer did a good job in prepping me and getting ready for this. I feel good. I’m in a good spot.”
The Mets play again on Sunday afternoon against Philadelphia.
