Former Eagles Super Bowl champion Alshon Jeffery arrested for insurance fraud

It has been over half a decade since Alshon Jeffrey played for the Philadelphia Eagles, but the former Super Bowl 52 champion has been arrested for insurance fraud.

TMZ Sports was first to report the news. Jeffrey was booked in jail in the early morning of Wednesday, Apr. 15, 2026, but has since been released. Not only was he arrested for insurance fraud, but he was “also busted for conceal/fail to disclose insurance benefit or payment.”

California law states that an insurance fraud charge is a felony. It could carry up to five years in prison. Additionally, a fine worth double the amount of the fraud could also be enforced instead of or in addition to jail time.

Jeffery was arrested for insurance fraud. TMZ Sports notes that “further details surrounding the arrest were not immediately available.” So, it is still a developing story.

During his nine-year career in the NFL, Jeffery played for the Chicago Bears and Eagles. He spent the first five years of his career with the Bears, who drafted him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of South Carolina.

While in the Windy City, Jeffery was a one-time Pro Bowler. He had two 1,000-yard seasons and scored 26 touchdowns with the Bears.

In 2017, Jeffery signed with the Eagles. They won the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl that year, and Jeffery caught nine touchdowns. He dealt with injuries in 2018, but still logged more yards (843) than in 2017 (789) despite playing in three fewer games.

Throughout the final two years of his career, Jeffery only played in 17 games. He would have 605 yards and five touchdowns in that span. His last season was his most disappointing. Jeffery appeared in seven games in 2020, catching six passes for 115 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles released Jeffery in March 2021.
