Former Chelsea youth player reveals he has ‘days left’ to live in heartbreaking statement

Former Chelsea prodigy Lamisha Musonda confirmed he has ‘a few days’ left to live in a devastating social media post.

The 33-year-old, who spent time in Chelsea’s academy, revealed he had been battling a mystery illness for the last two years and vowed he ‘wont quit until my last breath.’

“As I realise I only have a few days left, I also realise I had a lot of people by my side and I’ll always cherish the memories,” Musonda wrote.

“Life is hard, but the view is great.”

Musonda continued his post in French and said: “Life is made of highs and lows, and no-one can truly understand the pain you go through.

“These last two years have been particularly difficult and challenging for me.

“It is with great sadness that I announce that I am struggling to get my health back. This is the reason why I have been absent from social media.

“I have to face facts – my health is critical, and I’m now fighting to survive.  Your aid and prayers will be a great help during this time.

“My family and I are fighting, and I won’t quit until my last breath.

“I was fortunate enough to have a beautiful early life, and I still have so much to offer.

“But there are so many wonderful people who I would have loved to thank in person – and the fact I maybe won’t get the chance saddens me deeply.”

Several players offered messages of support to Musonda under the post, including Napoli and Belgium star Romelu Lukaku.

“Courage Lamisha, we are with you,” Lukaku wrote.

Former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: “I sincerely hope you manage to overcome your health struggles! Thinking of you and your family.”

Musonda joined Chelsea’s academy in 2012 from Belgian powerhouse Anderlecht.

At Cobham, where he was joined by his younger brother Charly, Musonda played alongside the likes of future Premier League stars Nathan Ake, Patrick Bamford and Andreas Christensen.

The 33-year-old never made a first team appearance for the Blues as he was sold to Belgian club KV Mechelen in January 2014.

Stints at Llagostera and Palamos in Spain followed before he joined Congolese club Mazembe in November 2018.
