Eagles make intriguing WR addition after A.J. Brown trade
The Philadelphia Eagles are already making moves to retool their receiving corps following the blockbuster trade that sent WR A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots. The team has officially signed former UFL standout and former Miami Dolphins 4th-round draft pick Erik Ezukanma, adding an intriguing piece to their suddenly revamped offensive arsenal.
The Eagles pounced on the 26-year-old receiver after an impressive stint with the DC Defenders in the United Football League. With Brown no longer in the picture, general manager Howie Roseman is turning over every stone to find offensive playmakers who can contribute immediately or develop into valuable depth for the roster.

Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Dolphins out of Texas Tech, Ezukanma brings size, standing at 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds, along with physical upside. His first NFL go with Miami and a short stint in Jacksonville was not stat-productive, but his recent UFL stint showed real promise. Ezukanma showed versatility as a pass-catcher and a dynamic return specialist. Those are attributes that undoubtedly caught the eye of the Eagles’ scouting department as they look to replace lost production.
The departure of Brown leaves a gaping void in the target share. While Ezukanma isn’t expected to replicate that All-Pro production, his big frame makes him a compelling perimeter option. He will enter training camp competing for snaps alongside the remaining core, and he brings immediate special teams value as a potential kickoff returner. If Ezukanma can harness the raw talent that made him a mid-round pick just a few years ago, this low-risk flyer could pay major dividends for an Eagles team navigating a new era of their offense.
The Eagles are clearly willing to explore all avenues as they reconstruct their passing attack post-trade. The addition of Ezukanma is a subtle yet fascinating first step in what promises to be a highly scrutinized transitional period in Philadelphia.
