Dylan Harper turned into ‘Surprised Pikachu’ when Victor Wembanyama threw his elbow

Emotions boiled over on Sunday night as Victor Wembanyama lost his cool and leveled Naz Reid with an elbow after Timberwolves defenders were grabbing at him during Game 3 of the second round series between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves. It was a truly shocking moment, and nobody was more surprised than Spurs rookie Dylan Harper who couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Harper’s reaction was the same as all of us at home, as Wemby got ejected for the elbow after playing only 12 minutes, allowing Minnesota to take over the game and level the series 2-2. Thankfully the Spurs have dodged a major bullet, with NBA insider Shams Charania reporting on Monday that the NBA will not further punish Wemby for the Flagrant 2 elbow, deeming the early-game ejection was punishment enough.

Now that all of San Antonio can exhale from the anxiety of potentially losing Wemby in this series, we can appreciate Dylan Harper’s incredible, meme-worthy reaction — which turned the rookie guard into the NBA equivalent of “Surprised Pikachu.”
