The Scottish Premiership season kicks off on Friday night with Rangers making the trip to Tannadice Park to take on Dundee United.

Rangers kick off the new Scottish Premiership season with a trip to Dundee United in the very first match of the campaign on Friday night.
The Glasgow side will be determined to improve on what turned out to be a hugely disappointing campaign last season, finishing third in the Scottish Premiership, their lowest finish in eight years, and with premature exits in all three cup competitions.
McInnes has made seven new additions to the squad over the summer, notably bringing Lawrence Shankland, who was just a goal shy of the Golden Boot last season, and Cammy Devlin over from Tynecastle Park with him.
The Gers have enjoyed an unbeaten pre-season campaign, culminating with a 2-1 over Saint Etienne before playing out a 0-0 draw with West Ham in front of 48,000 fans at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
Dundee United finished last season in seventh place in their second season back in the Premiership, a bit of a snap back to reality after their surprise fourth place finish in their first season back in the top flight, which was their joint highest finish league since 2010.
Jim Goodwin has also been busy in the transfer window this summer, with nine new players through the door in a bid to get the Terrors back into the top six this campaign.
The Tangerines haven’t been given the kindest opening league match of the campaign, but should at least be more match sharp after having played four competitive matches already this month.
Goodwin’s men won three of their four League Cup matches, getting the better of Stirling Albion, Arbroath and the Spartans but falling short against Montrose, but still managed to finish top of Group B to progress through to the second round, where they’ll be delighted to hear they’ve been drawn against Celtic.
Dundee United are winless in their last 14 meetings with Rangers, though two of their three matches last season did end in stalemates, with Friday’s hosts scoring six goals against the Glasgow side across those games, so will take some confidence into the match.
Don’t forget to make use of talkSPORT’s EXCLUSIVE sign up offer with SBK, where new customer can get £50 in free bets when they bet £20 on the new season.
