Ducks’ Beckett Sennecke, Alex Killorn lead charge in Game 4 Golden Knights win
The Anaheim Ducks could not stop Mitch Marner in Game 3 against the Vegas Golden Knights. However, Anaheim was up to the task in Game 4. The Ducks defeated the Golden Knights on Sunday night to even their second-round series at two games apiece.
Veteran Alex Killorn and rookie Beckett Sennecke led the way for Anaheim on Sunday. Both players recorded a goal and an assist each. Veteran Mikael Granlund also remained hot, scoring for the second time in his last four games. The Ducks skated to a big 4-3 win on home ice against the Golden Knights.
It was a stark contrast to how Game 3 started for Anaheim. They allowed three first-period goals, and never really found a rhythm. Marner scored a natural hat trick, as well, to further sink the Ducks in that contest.
However, goaltender Lukas Dostal helped support his offense on Sunday night. The young netminder didn’t face a ton of shots in Game 4. But he made 19 saves on the 21 shots he did face to help Anaheim maintain its lead.
The Golden Knights pulled goaltender Carter Hart with a little over two minutes remaining. Per the ESPN broadcast, Vegas did have the third-most goals in the NHL with an extra attacker across the regular season and playoffs. They did get one, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
The Ducks can breathe a bit easier now that they aren’t hitting the road facing elimination. At the same time, the Ducks and Golden Knights only have three games remaining to determine who moves on to the West Final. These teams return to the ice for Game 5 in Las Vegas on Tuesday night.
