Dream’s Angel Reese drops loud 9-word reaction to close win vs. Mercury

Angel Reese is happy to see her Atlanta Dream squad off to a great start in the 2026 WNBA season after beating the Phoenix Mercury in an 82-80 nailbiter on Sunday evening.

Reese is going through the third season of her career, her first with the Dream. She hopes to pick up where she left off following her first two years with the Chicago Sky, who traded her to Atlanta this past offseason.

Fortunately for the star forward, Reese is helping Atlanta win most of their games to start the season. They are 4-1 after five games, helping them defend homecourt after beating Phoenix. Reese reflected on the win after the game, putting a clear statement of celebration on social media.

“Happy Sunday! oh & DUBS IN THE MF CHAT,” Reese wrote.

Angel Reese and the Dream hope to keep the hot start going, defending homecourt with their latest win over the Mercury.

Atlanta got off to a slow start as they went down 25-13 after the first quarter and was losing by eight points going into the fourth period. Despite this, the hosts fought back as they outscored Phoenix 33-23 in the last 10 minutes of regulation.

Four players scored in double-digits for Atlanta in the win, including Reese. She filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, four steals, and a block. She shot 6-of-16 from the field and 5-of-10 from the free-throw line. Rhyne Howard led the team with 21 points and eight rebounds, Allisha Gray had 18 points, while Jordin Canada provided 11 points and 14 assists.

Atlanta improved to a 4-1 record on the season, controlling the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They are above the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky at the moment.

The Dream will look forward to their next matchup, being on the road. They take on the Minnesota Lynx on May 27 at 9 p.m. ET.
