Dream star Angel Reese makes history never seen before in WNBA

A historic performance from Angel Reese helped the Atlanta Dream defeat the Indiana Fever 113-96 on Saturday at State Farm Arena. It was Atlanta’s second straight win over Indiana in three days, building on their 108-101 success earlier in the series.

Reese scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win, while Rhyne Howard led all scorers with 24 points. Allisha Gray added 21 points, Naz Hillmon contributed 19, and Jordin Canada recorded 12 points along with 12 assists, as all five Dream starters finished in double figures. Atlanta improved to 11-4, tying the Las Vegas Aces for the second-best record in the WNBA, behind the Minnesota Lynx.

The game also saw Reese reach a historic milestone. During the third quarter at 4:29, she collected a rebound that made her the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career rebounds. She reached the mark in 79 games, surpassing Tina Charles, who previously achieved it in 89 games. The rebound was part of a third-quarter stretch where the Dream outscored Indiana 28-15 to take control of the contest.

The Fever led 59-56 at halftime after shooting 61% from the field and 60% from three-point range, with Kelsey Mitchell scoring 16 first-half points and Caitlin Clark adding 15. However, Atlanta responded after the break, including a 13-0 run that featured six points from Reese, to take a 73-65 lead on a Rhyne Howard three-pointer.

The Dream extended their advantage into the fourth quarter, entering the final period up 84-74 before stretching the advantage further. Atlanta’s 113 points also set a new franchise single-game scoring record.
