Dodgers’ Emmet Sheehan builds a snowman before Rockies showdown

The two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers are an MLB-best 14-4 and are facing the slumping Colorado Rockies. Fans probably feel like it’s Christmas morning. The players may feel that way, too, especially once they got outside. Coors Field was covered in snow ahead of Friday’s National League West matchup, and the Boys in Blue are making the best of it.

Dodgers starting pitcher Emmet Sheehan, a Northeast native who knows his way around a blizzard, chose to have some fun before the action commenced. He appeared to be in the process of building a snowman, per Masaya Kotani. They say baseball is a kid’s game, so why not treat this like a snow day.

Sheehan has struggled thus far this season, posting a 6.60 ERA and 1.467 WHIP through 15 innings. Perhaps it is a good idea for him to turn off his brain for a bit and just have a good time. Considering the injury problems they usually endure, the Dodgers will likely need him to be in solid standing as the campaign progresses. He tallied a 2.82 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 73 1/3 innings of work in 2025, so a bounce-back should be attainable.

One could only imagine how this frigid game is going to unfold. Harsh weather conditions can be an equalizer, but LA’s stacked roster could be immune to such variables. Hopefully, Emmet Sheehan is able to assemble a respectable snowman before night’s end. The 26-year-old righty will take the mound on Saturday, so he better bundle up during this one.
