Derek Chisora baffles Simon Jordan with Oleksandr Usyk vs Rico Verhoeven take

Derek Chisora irked Simon Jordan with his claim that Rico Verhoeven will beat Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk will take on kickboxing icon Verhoeven in a heavyweight showdown from the Pyramids of Giza this weekend.

Verhoeven is a huge underdog, having only fought once in the traditional squared circle ranks.

The Ukrainian has never been beaten and should he be for the first time in his career, it would be one of the biggest upsets in sporting history.

Not many people are backing Usyk to taste defeat, with only Jarrell Miller picking Verhoeven as an official prediction.

But during an appearance on talkBOXING, Derek Chisora suggested he fancied Verhoeven to get the job done.

Chisora annoys Jordan with rogue Usyk take

Chisora astonishingly had a hot take, despite certainly being in the mood after a previous row with host Jordan.

The British heavyweight said: “Watch this, I think [Oleksandr] Usyk loses this fight in Egypt.”

Jordan was quick to fire back, replying: “Oh shut up, Derek, no you don’t. You’re just saying that to get a reaction.”

Chisora then continued: “That’s what I’m saying. You have your own choices. I’m telling you. I’m not trying to get a rise, I’m telling you.

“But I’m telling you, he’s going to beat Usyk. Just hit the guy.”

Chisora then let out a wry smirk, as if his prediction was comical.

But having made some rogue bets and predictions in the past, it wouldn’t surprise the boxing world to hear his take.

He gave Usyk problems himself during their 2020 clash, adopting a physical and aggressive approach against the now champion.

And Verhoeven may have to take a leaf out of Chisora’s book to even hang with the masterful division’s king.

Verhoeven thinks he can upset Usyk

As for the Dutch underdog, he is filled with confidence that he can make Chisora’s prediction come true.

He told talkSPORT.com: “I’ve been world champion within my division of combat sports, but when I become champion in boxing I’ll make history.

“Yeah it’d be incredible, it could be one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
