Dave Portnoy blasts Tom Brady after Super Bowl ‘conflict of interest’ claim from Seahawks HC

Dave Portnoy has accused Tom Brady of giving the Seattle Seahawks advice ahead of their Super Bowl LX win.

Seattle stormed to a dominant 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots back in February, and lifted the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in franchise history.

Brady, one of the NFL’s greatest-ever quarterbacks, played 20 seasons in Foxborough — and won six of his record-setting seven rings with the Pats.

He has been honored with a statue outside Gillette Stadium in retirement, but stunned plenty of fans when he admitted before Super Bowl LX that he ‘didn’t have a dog in the fight.’

Brady’s pregame comments caused a stir amongst Patriots stars of past and present, and he later walked back on his comments to save face with the New England faithful.

But five months on, Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald might have unintentionally dropped him in it again.

Speaking during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show on Thursday, Macdonald revealed that someone with a conflict of interest ‘really helped’ his preparation for the biggest game of the season.

“John Harbaugh and I talked,” the head coach revealed, when asked who he asked for Super Bowl advice, before making some rather eyebrow-raising claims.

“He was great.

“Probably can’t mention one guy that really helped us out that had some conflict of interest.”

Host Patrick questioned if that person was legendary Pats coach Bill Belichick, but Macdonald made it clear that wasn’t the case.

In the hours since, plenty of fans have speculated that it was Brady instead, with die-hard New England fan Dave Portnoy essentially confirming it on Friday.

“If this doesn’t p*** you off as a Patriots fan you are dead on this inside,” the Barstool Sports founder wrote on X, quoting a video of the Seahawks discussion on the Dan Patrick Show.

“I’m not going to say who they are saying gave a ton of advice to the Seahawks before the Super Bowl, but the guy has a statue in front of our stadium.

“What a joke.”

Portnoy, while not a traditional NFL insider, has recently called other massive sporting news.

He shared that Folarin Balogun would be allowed to play for the United States in their crunch World Cup knockout game, hours before FIFA announced his ban for picking up a red card would be suspended.

However, his suggestion that Brady was behind the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win remains unverified.

That didn’t stop fans from sharing similar thoughts on social media.

Fans pile in on Tom Brady after Seahawks claims

“I’m pretty sure it was Tom Brady… something tells me it was him,” one wrote on X.

“Tom Brady helped the Seahawks beat the Patriots,” another claimed.

“If there is proof it is indeed Brady, dismantle the damn statue and never speak his name again in civilized society,” a third wrote.

“Brady, since Brady took his OC lol,” a fourth concluded, referencing the face that former Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is now head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

With one simple sentence, Macdonald appears to have ignited a surprising offseason debate, and once again bring into question Brady’s relationship with the Patriots.

And it could be a story that snowballs heading into training camp, as teams and players return to action in the coming weeks.
