Dave Allen scores brutal 57-second KO on Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington undercard
Dave Allen returned to winning ways on Saturday night in emphatic fashion.
Four months removed from his eighth career defeat to Arslanbek Makhmudov, Allen blasted away French journeyman Karim Berredjem in 57 seconds on the Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington undercard in Nottingham.
Allen promised a quick finish, and he delivered just that, dropping his overmatched foe in 10 seconds with a clubbing right hand.
Berredjem made his way back to his feet, but Allen refused to give him any space to breathe as he poured on the pressure and closed the show with another heavy overhand.
Speaking post-fight, Allen said: “I knew I was level or two above this, but I had a comeback, I took it, and I said to Eddie [Hearn], I’m just going to let my shots go.
“I can hurt anyone in the division, but I’ve had a problem with letting my hands go.
“So tonight, I thought, while I have the chance, let’s knock someone out as quickly as we can.”
Allen improves to 25-8-2 as a professional as he continues his collision course towards a British heavyweight title.
“I believe I can go even further [than a British title], but I have commitment issues, not to this guy [Eddie Hearn] though.
“This man will get me whatever I want, it is up to me how far I go and it always has been up to me.
“That was a good start and I’m happy with it.
“I’m entertaining, I want to be entertainment value.
“This atmosphere in Nottingham was amazing and I’m proud of that more than anything else.”
