Danny Green reveals biggest question surrounding WCF series vs. Thunder
The Spurs have enjoyed a level of dominance over the Oklahoma City Thunder that is unheard of over the past three seasons. The Thunder have emerged as a powerhouse in the Western Conference and a perennial contender for the NBA championship.

But in five games this season, including their NBA Cup matchup in December, the Spurs went four-and-one in the regular season against OKC. On ESPNâs NBA Today, analyst and former San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green asked one of the biggest questions heading into tonightâs highly anticipated Western Conference Finals matchup.
âDoes the regular season matter? I mean, OKC and San Antonioâs had great match-ups, and San Antonioâs beat them most of the time, four out of five times, I believe.â
Even though Green played for the San Antonio Spurs and even won a championship with the team in 2014, he believes that the Thunder had the edge due to their championship experience from last year. However, he didnât count out the Spurs in the series.
âBut to me, regular season does not matter. So I give a slight edge to OKC because of experience, but this Spurs team is hungry, and they could definitely get it done in six games if they play like they played.â
Another huge subplot in the series between the Thunder and the Spurs is the NBA MVP voting. On Sunday, it was revealed that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been named NBA MVP for the second time in a row, with Victor Wembanyama receiving the third-most first-place votes, along with the third-most total votes. The series pits the two-time MVP versus the unanimous Defensive Player of the Year.
