Crystal Palace vs Rayo Vallecano predictions
In Oliver Glasner’s first full season as Crystal Palace manager, the south Londoners finished 12th in the Premier League. This term, they finished 15th.
And yet because of his achievements elsewhere, Glasner is already the greatest manager in Palace’s history, regardless of what happens on Wednesday.
This is a club which had never won a major trophy before the Austrian walked through the door. Palace now have an FA Cup and a Community Shield to their name, and they are potentially 90 minutes away from a maiden European triumph.
Last summer, Palace were demoted from the Europa League to the Conference League for falling foul of UEFA’s multi-club ownership regulations. There was an outcry from Palace fans at the time, and many neutrals were sympathetic to their plight.
If Glasner’s side win on Wednesday, it will have all been worth it. Palace would not only scoop up a third piece of silverware in 12 months; they would also qualify for next season’s Europa League.
On their flights back from Leipzig later this week, Palace supporters would be able to dream of possible trips to AC Milan, Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus next term.
There is a job to be done first, however, and it would be a mistake for Palace to take Rayo Vallecano lightly.
Rayo outperformed Palace in the league phase. In the semi-finals, they eliminated a Strasbourg side which beat the Eagles early on.
Rayo have just finished eighth in La Liga, above the likes of Valencia, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad. And they are on a nine-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
Palace will not have everything their own way at the Red Bull Arena.
Crystal Palace vs Rayo Vallecano betting tips
Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano go head-to-head in the Conference League final on Wednesday.
Palace to edge it
For all that Rayo Vallecano are capable of making things tough for Crystal Palace, we expect the Premier League side to get over the line.
English clubs have dominated the Europa League and Conference League in recent times, largely because they are generally much wealthier than their counterparts from Spain, Italy, Germany and the rest of the continent.
Another advantage for Palace is the fact they have more experience of one-off matches where silverware is up for grabs than Rayo.
In particular, Glasner has won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt, while his opposite number Inigo Perez is in his first job as a manager.

Tense tussle in Germany
Aston Villa beat Freiburg 3-0 in the Europa League final, but this looks set to be a much tighter match.
There is not as much of a gulf between Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano as there was between the two finalists in Istanbul.
Rayo’s recent games have not been high-scoring. Indeed, there have been under 2.5 goals in all but one of their last seven outings.
Given that, and the stakes involved at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, we are unlikely to see a goal-laden affair in the Conference League final.

Sarr to strike again
To the surprise of no one who has even vaguely followed Crystal Palace’s season, Ismaila Sarr was voted as the club’s Player of the Year by fans and team-mates alike.
The Senegal international has scored 21 goals in all competitions, including a tournament-high nine in the Conference League.
He has a ratio of one goal every other game across 2025/26, which is a superb record for a Palace player.
Sarr is already the top scorer in the Europa League, but he is not finished yet. Palace’s No.7 can be the difference-maker in the final.
