Cowboys troll Eagles over ‘punch bag’ claims as Saquon Barkley assigns blame for shock comeback
The Dallas Cowboys have the Philadelphia Eagles beat on and off the field.
First came a stunning comeback win at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, which saw America’s Team rally back from 21-0 down to win 24-21 with a walk-off field goal.

Then came the social media fun.
Quarterback Dak Prescott, who gave an emotional tribute to late teammate Marshawn Kneeland last week, was key to the franchise’s record-tying turnaround. He threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns, while also running in a third score.
It’s hardly surprising, then, that he was front and center as the Cowboys’ social media team ripped into the Eagles in the hours that followed.
Cowboys celebrate big win by trolling Eagles
Their official X account pulled out an old post from the Eagles, shared on November 17, which boasted about their defensive unit and likened them to a brick wall, asking: “Who’s getting past this?”
It was initially shared after Philly beat the Detroit Lions 16-9 in Week 11.
The Cowboys quoted that post, and shared an image of the Kool-Aid Man bursting through a wall, with Prescott’s face photo-shopped on.
Their brutal shot quickly went viral, and has been seen more than four million times in 12 hours.
Not content with that effort, Dallas’ account then shared a second post on Monday morning.
It featured a cartoon of a cowboy standing over a dazed eagle, on what appeared to be the iconic ‘Rocky Steps’ outside of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Two punchbags, with photos of Prescott and George Pickens — who could be set for the franchise tag — also featured in the image which was captioned ‘schooled ’em’.

“Bags don’t hit back… but we do,” was also written underneath the cartoon.
The post came after a Philly elementary school had playfully trolled Dallas ahead of the game, with a video that showed students punching bags that had players’ faces on them.
As the Cowboys celebrate their big win on social media, the Eagles will no doubt be dissecting what went wrong against a bitter rival on Sunday.
Eagles star takes blame for offensive struggles
Their running back seems to know.
Saquon Barkley, the NFL‘s reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, suggested postgame that he is ‘in a funk’.
After a stellar 2024, in which his record-breaking productivity on the ground helped power Philly to Super Bowl glory, he was expected to be the most dangerous player in the league this season.

But things haven’t worked out like that for Barkley, who finds himself buried on the charts he once dominated.
He has 684 yards this season, ranking 14th in the NFL, and is far behind Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor, who is at the top of the list with 1,197 yards.
Barkley’s four rushing TDs see him ranked 25th on that list. Six quarterbacks, including teammate Hurts, have more rushing scores than Saquon.
“I’m more disappointed with myself, not frustrated with anybody else,” Saquon Barkley said of offensive issues, after rushing for just 22 yards on Sunday.

“I’m a big believer that the run game starts with me. I’m in a little funk right now. I’ve had funks like this before, just got to break it.”
The RB added that he’s confident of turning things around soon, and that he’s tired of ‘excuses’ amid a lacklustre season.
“I’m not getting yards,” he told reporters.
“I’m tired of the excuse of people trying to stop the run game. I don’t really subscribe to that.

“Just got to be better, got to make plays.”
Despite a shock loss to the Cowboys, the Eagles remain one of the top teams in the NFC with an 8-3 record through 12 weeks.
But alarm bells are ringing after Philly blew a 21-point lead on Sunday, and as Barkley suggests, the offense needs to put things right if they want to make another postseason run.
That all starts on Black Friday, when they host the 8-3 Chicago Bears in a game that could go a long way to deciding playoff seeding.
