Coventry vs Hull prediction

Hull City managed to spoil the Man Utd hopes of a completely fresh new season when they beat them 2-0 on the opening weekend.

It was a bit of a shock to the odds and they go up against a Coventry side who had to face the reigning champions Arsenal on the very first game of the season last Friday evening.

Coventry lost 3-0 to a well-oiled attack from the Gunners that benefitted from their players coming through in attack along with new players instantly gelling.

They have a much better chance here, but after the Man Utd victory, many will be automatically choosing Hull to win this battle of the newly promoted sides.

Tigers continue to maul

These two teams were unsurprisingly tipped to be the ones to go down this season, as is often the case with sides who’ve just come up from the Championship.

A win for Hull here would see them just one win shy of the amount of wins Wolves got last season who finished bottom on 20 points and already half the wins that Burnley accumulated across the 38-game campaign.

This will be Coventry’s strongest chance of a win as they then have to face Man City the Saturday after.

But after Hull’s clinical showing last Saturday, with goals from Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy, they look a team ready to take on Coventry, despite the big difference in where they finished in the Championship last season.

Best betting angles

Hull had just 28% possession against Man United, who did have plenty of chances to force Hull back and put themselves level or within touching distance.

That decisive blow didn’t come though and Hull did well to prevent albeit sometimes fortunately to come away with a clean sheet in a dream start to the Premier League season.

They still managed to create eight shots with four on target, they will surely punish Coventry in the same manner and with surely much more of the ball as the game will be more even in that regard.

Oli McBurnie put in a 90 minute shift against Man Utd and is sure to feature heavily for Hull again as the main target man, he will make things difficult for the Coventry defence.

However, both of Hull’s goals came from their defenders last week and they will need their attackers to come up with more, and they will certainly get a better chance of things against Coventry.

But of course, Coventry’s Ellis Simms and Brandon Thomas-Asante were prominent for their successes last season and they will be a huge threat again this season when the chances do come their way.

All three of the last three meetings between these two sides have ended in draws, with the last two ending in goalless draws – but with Hull priced near 3’s just to get the win and Coventry at odds-on there’s huge value backing the Tigers.
