Conor Benn responds to ‘spoiled brat’ Ryan Garcia after security intervened at chaotic face-off

Conor Benn claims he wanted to ‘punch’ Ryan Garcia when the pair were separated by security at a tense face-off.

It was announced that Benn and Garcia would meet in a blockbuster WBC welterweight title clash on September 12 in Las Vegas.

Garcia and Benn have been trading verbal barbs for months over a potential clash.

And it finally came to the fore when the pair met face-to-face at a launch press conference.

The champion and challenger were brought on stage where they shouted insults at one another.

But tensions spilled over as the two fighters came to face off with Zuffa Boxing’s Dana White caught in the middle of a near melee.

Garcia and Benn were held back by security who intervened and prevented a violent altercation from breaking out.

For Benn, he was fired up, just as he was during his two-fight rivalry with Chris Eubank Jr in 2025, in which he won the rematch.

And the Briton insisted it was his rival who has been acting poorly so far both on stage and on social media.

He said: “Oh, I wanted to punch his head in, for sure

“I wanted to punch his head in. I would have had it there and then with him. I’m not worried about nothing with Ryan.

“I ain’t scared about nothing. What’s there to be scared about?

“He’s a spoiled brat and he carries on like a little child, throwing his toys out the pram, having social media tantrums. You think I’m worried about him?

“I’ve just gone up to middleweight and had Fight of the Year. You think I’m worried about Ryan, a lightweight? Not at all.”

Benn will hope to keep his emotions in check, something that he blamed for his maiden defeat to Eubank Jr.

It is a big opportunity for ‘The Destroyer’ who is looking to win the prestigious green belt his father Nigel held at super-middleweight between 1992 and 1996.

As for Garcia, victory over Benn will be the perfect statement and another boost for his momentum.

‘King Ry’ picked up the belt with a dominant win over former champion Mario Barrios earlier this year.

And a win in his first title defence could set up some big unification opportunities, including a rematch with bitter rival Devin Haney.
