Commentator clears the air after Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac appear to take thinly-veiled swipe at Alejandro Garnacho over ‘flopping’

Sky Sports’ David Prutton had to clarify comments from Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac regarding a player diving with ‘frosted tips’.

The Wrexham co-owners took part in a special watchalong on Sky Sports for the club’s game against Swansea.

The Welsh side beat their rivals 2-0 to continue their excellent season and play-off push, with Nathan Broadhead scoring before a Liam Cullen goal wrapped it up.

However, Prutton was forced to step in early doors to clarify some comments made by the duo.

One of the comments appeared to be a thinly-veiled swipe at Alejandro Garnacho following his involvement in Chelsea‘s 4-2 FA Cup win over Wrexham.

The Argentine was on the receiving end of a tackle that VAR deemed to be worthy of a red card for George Dobson.

That challenge happened with the score locked at 2-2, and the Wrexham midfielder was initially given a yellow card.

But after a review, it was upgraded to a sending off with Garnacho down throughout the whole check.

And speaking about diving, Reynolds said: “I am going to host a clinic with Rob soon with the players on flopping.

“You’ve got to sell it. You really have to sell it – real tears.”

Mac then said: “I would say there were a couple of players last week (against Chelsea) that were selling it pretty well.

“The guy with frosted tips…”

Reynolds jumped in and said: “Oh Yes. My gosh – the frosted tips.”

This saw Prutton intervene: “I suppose this type of opinion is subjective.”

And Reynolds jokingly concluded: “Everything we say is not subjective – it is nonsense.”

Ahead of the game, Mac posted on Instagram showing the only rule that he and Reynolds had to abide by.

It simply read: “Don’t say f***.”

They did manage to avoid that, but Prutton still had to step in after these comments.

Though, Mac came very close to swearing when the opening goal went in.

He just about managed to stop himself, and the two Americans loved the whole thing as Wrexham dominated from start to finish.

Promotion?

After the game, Reynolds explained that everyone at the club is pulling in the right direction.

He said: “There is such a feeling of togetherness in a place like this, and it is not just here – it is every arena where a community gets to come together and cheer for something that we share in common.

“I love it. I love looking around here and being in Wales, and we get to walk down onto that pitch – I never take that for granted. There is nothing better.”

And if they keep this up, they could be in the Premier League next year.
