Caitlin Clark’s 30-10 masterpiece in Fever-Sky extends her own WNBA record
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is on a mission to redeem herself after an injury-riddled sophomore season. So far, it has been an up-and-down campaign for the Fever. But it only takes one outstanding performance from Clark to get them going.
Their win over the Chicago Sky in overtime, 114-106, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday could be the start of their surge. Indiana improved to 7-5.
Clark exploded for 32 points to equal her season-high with 32 points. She added seven rebounds and 10 assists and shot 8-of-18 from the field and 15-of-15 from the free-throw line.
According to ESPN’s Michael Voepel, the 24-year-old guard extended her own record with her impressive output.
“Thursday was also Clark’s third career game with at least 30 points and 10 assists. No other player in W history has more than one such game in their career,” wrote Voepel on X.
Clark also set a new record with Fever center Aliyah Boston by becoming the first teammates to have 30-point double-doubles in the same game. Boston had 34 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
Indiana coach Stephanie White gushed about the “elite” talent of her dynamic duo.
Clark, who wore her Taylor Swift-inspired shoes against the Sky, only played 13 games last season due to multiple ailments. But even without her, the Fever ruled the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup and were just a win away from reaching the WNBA Finals.
Now, she is hell-bent on staying healthy and leading the Fever to a deep run.
The two-time All-Star is averaging 19.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and a league-leading 8.1 assists.
