Chiefs rumors: Travis Kelce’s $15 million a year boon waiting for him in retirement

Fans are still waiting on Travis Kelce’s retirement decision, but the Kansas City Chiefs legend could get into broadcasting and garner a big payday if he wanted to.

In The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand’s latest column on the state of NFL TV broadcasting, they make an interesting remark about Kelce. The tight end appears interested in calling games, but the networks may want him as an in-studio analyst, which would pay a lot.

“Travis Kelce appears as if he will try to play another season before potentially trying broadcasting,” Marchand notes, “where he would like to call games, but probably could pick up at least $15 million per year as a studio presence.”

Marchand also notes that Kelce could be courted by Prime Video as well, who may shake things up for their Thursday Night Football broadcasts. He calls Kelce and Sean McVay the “wild cards” of candidates.

There is a chance Prime Video moves on from Kirk Herbstreit after his contract expires following the 2026 season. The likes of Greg Olsen and J.J. Watt are also potential names to fill the void.

It does sound like Kelce wants to get into broadcasting after calling it a career on the field. While he has made millions as a player, he could make even more as a broadcaster.

Kelce is currently contemplating his next steps. It appears he is getting ready to play his 14th season in the league after a disappointing 2025 campaign.

While Kelce had a better season than his 2024 campaign, the Chiefs won just six games in 2025. They missed the playoffs for the first time since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback. Mahomes also suffered a torn ACL late in the year, putting his status for the start of the 2026 season in question.

Kelce and the Chiefs are still trying to get back to the top of the mountain. They were blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in embarrassing fashion in Super Bowl 59.
