Carey Price joins list of legendary Canadiens goaltenders in Hall of Fame
The Hockey Hall of Fame has released its class of 2026, and once again, a former goaltender with the Montreal Canadiens is taking his place among the other immortals enshrined forever in Toronto.
Goaltender Carey Price was included as part of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026, along with fellow former goaltender Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators, forwards Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins and Keith Tkachuk of the St. Louis Blues and other clubs, as well as executive Brian Burke.
He becomes the latest Canadiens goalie in the Hockey Hall of Fame, joining Ken Dryden, Patrick Roy, Jacques Plante, Bill Durnan, Georges Vezina, Tony Esposito, George Hainsworth, and Lorne Worsley.
Taken with the fifth overall pick by the Canadiens in the 2005 NHL Draft, Price would go on to become one of the top goaltenders in team history, earning seven appearances in the NHL All-Star Game while putting together an elite 2014-15 campaign that saw him win the Hart Trophy, the Vezina Trophy, and the William M. Jennings Trophy.
However, because of a brutal bone-on-bone knee injury that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation, Price missed most of the 2021-22 NHL season and then never suited up again in NHL play.
In late 2023, Price admitted that it was extremely difficult not being able to play the game he loved and starred at for so long.
He went 361-261-79 during regular season play during his career, along with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage, while posting 49 shutouts. Additionally, he went 43-45 during the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage with eight shutouts.
