Cam Jordan Saints contract revelation puts situation into perspective
One of the biggest storylines of the offseason for the New Orleans Saints has been the contract situation of veteran defensive lineman Cam Jordan. Jordan has long been a stalwart along the defensive line for New Orleans, but the star has yet to sign a new deal with the Saints to keep him around for the 2026 season.
Recently, Saints head coach Kellen Moore gave a blunt update on the state of talks between the two sides.
“Contract offer and he’s navigating it on the personal side,” said Moore, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on X, formerly Twitter.
Jordan might not be quite the same player he was during his prime with the Saints in the mid-2010s, but he is still a valuable veteran presence and sometimes elite pass rusher who can make plays and force opposing offensive lines to have to make adjustments on the fly.
Jordan will be 37 years old by the time next season gets around, having spent all of his 14 seasons in the NFL with the Saints and building up a potential Hall of Fame resume in the process.
Unfortunately, the last couple of years of his career have been spent on a rebuilding Saints team that is once again expected to be among the worst teams in the NFL heading into next year. While New Orleans did potentially find something down the stretch of last season in Tyler Shough, there is still clearly a lot of work that needs to be done to get this roster into something resembling contention.
In any case, the Saints are slated to kick off their 2026 season on September 13 with a tough road game against the Detroit Lions.
