Caleb Williams shares dramatic offseason weight loss and reveals secret to shedding 10-15 pounds

Caleb Williams is hoping to hit new heights in Year 3.

The Chicago Bears quarterback, who was drafted first overall in 2024, exploded into life in his Sophomore season.

He broke the franchise single-season passing record, with a total of 3,942 yards, en-route to the playoffs.

In the wild-card round, Williams inspired a stunning fourth-quarter comeback that secured the Bears their first postseason win since 2010, against their great rival, the Green Bay Packers.

The young quarterback provided one of the most iconic images of the season in that game, throwing a ‘Jumpman’ style pass to Rome Odunze that has since been immortalized on the cover of Madden 27.

But next season, Williams might look a little different.

Sporting a new mustache and goatee look at practice, the Bears star revealed he’s lost 10-15 pounds this offseason, with better eating and sleeping habits.

“I lost some weight; I’m excited about that,” Williams told reporters.

“I’m able to move a little bit better, be smoother.”

When asked to break down his new habits, he added: “Eating at certain times, going to bed and not eating after 7pm.

“Just eating consistently, eating well.”

Williams was already one of the fastest quarterbacks in the NFL last year, hitting speeds over 20 miles per hour during games.

He rushed for a total of 388 yards and three scores during 2025, on top of setting a new franchise passing record.

Caleb Williams urged to ‘take it up a notch’ in Bears training camp

Heading into 2026, the Bears have a quarterback who has cut weight, and one who has aspirations of a Super Bowl run.

The arrival of head coach Ben Johnson in 2025 did wonders for Williams, and the learning curve was steep as Chicago turned from a 5-12 team in 2024 to an NFC North-topping 11-6 powerhouse.

Last year’s training camp featured heavy emphasis on the pre-snap operation, calls plays in the huddle, aligning teammates and making checks at the line.

This time around, Williams will be pushed to become more advanced with recognizing defenses, and what transpires once the ball is in his hands.

It’s a natural progression for a quarterback looking to establish himself alongside the likes of superstars like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford.

“He’s had two offseasons and one training camp so far and a full season to where he’s had a lot of the similar concepts repeat for him,” HC Johnson said.

“Now we’re at the point where he’s not thinking about the play call, he’s not thinking about the cadence, the motion and all the rigmarole before the snap.

“Things are starting to slow down. So, what we need to see here in camp is that anticipation. Take it up a notch. I think with that, the coverage recognition gets taken up another notch.

“There are other ways we’re going to continue to challenge and push him, more of which are going to happen post-snap. Last year we talked about that pre-snap operation quite a bit.

“(We) feel a lot better about that this time of year than we did (last summer), so now we’re just moving onto the next stage.”

Williams will be worked hard in camp, but will likely have a smoother ride in 2026.

He joked that last year Coach Johnson yelled at him so much when they first started working together, he thought his coach didn’t like him.

The approach is the same this year, but the third-year star no longer takes it personally.

“I know we have a real common goal and it’s to find a way to make the Chicago Bears champions,” Williams said.

“So, everything he says to me, I’ll do it at 200% and won’t look back.

“That’s kind of how it is now. If he yells and curses at me or anything like that, I know it’s for the greater good of the team.”
